A Blooming Prairie man faces criminal charges for allegedly sexually assaulting a woman, and then physically assaulting a man after illegally entering the woman’s Rochester apartment early Monday morning.

William Howard Kokoschke, 34, is charged with one count of third-degree criminal sexual conduct, one count of fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct, both felonies; one gross misdemeanor count of fifth-degree criminal sexual conduct; and one misdemeanor count of fifth-degree assault. Unconditional bail is set at $100,000, and conditional bail is set at $10,000. He returns to court June 23.

According to the criminal complaint, police were called to a woman’s residence in the 1900 block of 81⁄2 Street Southeast about 1:30 a.m. Monday. She said Kokoschke had fled, and he later was located and arrested.

The complaint said a man was asleep and had been attacked by Kokoschke, who punched him several times in the face. The adult female said she had been asleep on the couch and heard the commotion and tried to intervene. She said he stopped and then kicked the man in the face with his right foot. She was able to get Kokoschke out of the residence and call 911.

Both victims said they had reason to believe Kokoschke had sexually assaulted the woman. The victims said they had passed out after consuming alcohol.

Kokoschke told police he had obtained a copy of the key to the woman’s apartment, let himself in and saw the female on the couch passed out. He said he sexually assaulted the woman while she was asleep, according to the complaint. He said that he then saw a man sleeping on a mattress in the back bedroom and went there and began punching the man in the face.
