Man faces burglary, assault charges

A 23-year-old Rochester man faces several charges, including burglary and assault, after a string of incidents about 10 a.m. Saturday.

Rochester police said they got at least two calls about the man.

He allegedly was standing across the street from a home in the 400 block of Ninth Avenue Southeast and was verbally harassing children during a family gathering. When the children went indoors and locked a door, the man came across the street. When the children's mother came to the front door, he threw a toy at her.

She also locked the doors, and the man continued trying to get in, eventually smashing a window. The woman's 16-year-old son and his friends chased the man away. He ran and went onto the deck of another home from where he threw items at the teens.

Police arrested the man. No one was injured.
