Man pleads guilty to sex-crime charge

A Rochester man has admitted he sexually touched a woman outside a convenience store last year.

Tyler Knight Shumaker, 20, 1603 41st St. N.W., No. D-9, pleaded guilty Wednesday in Olmsted District Court to a gross misdemeanor charge of fifth-degree criminal sexual conduct. Under terms of the plea agreement, the prosecution dismissed a felony charge of fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct.

Shumaker told Judge Jodi Williamson that he sexually touched the woman, who was 21 at the time, without her consent on or about Jan. 3, 2004.

Sentencing is set for Aug. 1.
