The owner of a home for sale in northwest Rochester called police after finding significant damage from flooding.

Police Capt. Brian Winters said the owner noticed the damage Saturday and said it could have occurred anytime during the previous week. Winters said the owner alleged that someone had broken into the house and had cut a utility hose to the refrigerator, resulting in flooding. He estimates $40,000 in damage. Winters said there is no sign of forced entry to the home, in the 4700 block of Fifth Street Northwest.
