MANTORVILLE — Another season of melodrama begins this weekend with the opening of "Running in Crop Circles, or The Spaceman Cometh" at the Mantorville Opera House.
The Mantorville Theatre Company production launches a schedule of four original melodramas that will be staged Fridays through Sundays through Sept. 13.
"Running in Crop Circles" concerns an attempt by a tycoon to buy up several cornfields, and the sudden appearance of a strange object in those fields. The show is written and directed by Denise Reuemping. Performances are at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday through July 12.

• "The Schoolhouse Mystery, or One Bad Apple," July 17 through Aug. 2.

• "The Road to Kasson, or If You See a Fork in the Road, Take It," Aug. 7 through Aug. 23.
• "Grapes of Woe, or Please, No Wining," Aug. 28 through Sept. 13.
Tickets are $8 for adults, $7 for students and senior citizens. A season ticket is $75, and includes six tickets for the summer melodramas and four tickets to the winter shows.
