Margaret Helen Robinson -- Blooming Prairie
BLOOMING PRAIRIE -- The funeral for Margaret Helen Robinson will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at First Lutheran Church in Blooming Prairie. The Revs. Richard Hegal and Heidi Heimgartner will officiate, and burial will be in Blooming Prairie Cemetery.
Mrs. Robinson, 94, of Blooming Prairie, died Friday evening (Aug. 16, 2002) at Prairie Manor Nursing Home in Blooming Prairie.
Born Margaret Helen Robinson Nov. 5, 1907, in Newry Township of Freeborn County, she attended rural school in Newry Township and through the 10th grade in Blooming Prairie. She worked after school as a telephone operator and helped a sister pay for business school.
On June 6, 1928, she married Fred Robinson in her parents' home. They lived in rural Blooming Prairie. He died Jan. 2, 1988. She was a lifetime member of First Lutheran Church in Blooming Prairie and taught Sunday School and was a member of the church's circle and quilting group. She was active in baking lefse for the church's lutefisk dinners, was a seamstress and was active in 4-H with her children.
Survivors include a son, Gerald "Sonny" Robinson of Lansing, Minn.; four daughters, Marilyn (Gaylord) Tollefson of Blooming Prairie, Dorris Hill of Wisconsin, Beverly (George) Allen of California, Lavonne (Orlin) Sorenson of Seattle, Wash.; a brother, Herbert (Lou) Benson of Blooming Prairie; two sisters, Thelma Gettling and Signe Pelinka, both of Blooming Prairie; 15 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, two brothers, a sister and two grandsons.
Friends may call at Worlein Blooming Prairie Funeral Home from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. today and at the church for an hour before the service Tuesday.
