PINE ISLAND -- The funeral for Margaret "Peg" Abel will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday in United Methodist Church in Pine Island, with the Rev. Ruth Phelps officiating. Burial will be in Pine Island Cemetery.

Mrs. Abel, 89, of Pine Island, died Friday (Dec. 16, 2005) at Pine Haven Care Center.

Margaret Stella Eberhart was born April 20, 1916, in Dodge County, and graduated from West Concord High School. She did residential housekeeping and, on Jan. 15, 1938, married Clarence Ray Abel in Olde Concord. Following their marriage, they lived in Olde Concord, Wasioja and the Pine Island area, where she continued housekeeping. Her husband died in 1978. She entered the Pine Haven Care Center in July 2002. She was a member of the United Methodist Church and the Home Extension Group of Pine Island, and she enjoyed cooking, her flower gardens and writing letters.

Survivors include two daughters, Bonnie Jeanne Norton of Quincy, Calif., and Sandra (James) Jackson of Wyoming, Minn.; a son, Charles of Port Charlotte, Fla.; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Dorothy (Neale) Sheppard and Gloria Eberhardt, both of Pine Island. Two brothers and two sisters preceded her in death.


Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. today at Mahn Family Funeral Home-Mahler Chapel in Pine Island.

Memorials are suggested to the American Heart Association or to the United Methodist Church.
