Marguerite A. Lawrence -- Stewartville

STEWARTVILLE -- A funeral Mass for Marguerite A. Lawrence will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Bernard's Catholic Church in Stewartville, with the Rev. Gregory Havel officiating. Burial will be in St. Bridget's Catholic Cemetery in Simpson.

Mrs. Lawrence, 87, of Stewartville, a former secretary, died Wednesday (Oct., 13, 2004) at Stewartville Care Center, where she had lived since June 2004.

Marguerite Ann Laudon was born Jan. 5, 1917, in Elmira Township, Olmsted County, grew up on the family farm, attended rural schools and graduated from Rochester High School. On Oct. 5, 1936, she married Norbert Lawrence in Rochester. They lived in Mount Clemons, Mich., from 1942 to 1958, then returned to the Rochester area and lived in Pleasant Grove until moving to Stewartville in 1966. Mrs. Lawrence was a secretary at All-American Co-op Elevator for many years. Her husband was a salesman for Messenger Corp. He died Sept. 5, 1970. She was a longtime member of St. Bernard's Catholic Church and its Women's Society and enjoyed gardening, reading and baking.

Survivors include three sons, David of Dexter, Gary of Stewartville and Larry (Sue) of High Forest, rural Stewartville; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and three brothers, Norman Laudon of Cody, Wyo., Milan Laudon of Rochester and Robert Laudon of St. Charles. She was preceded in death by a grandson and two brothers.

Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Griffin-Gray Funeral Home in Stewartville, where there will be a prayer service at 7:30 p.m., and an hour before the service Saturday at the church.
