Marie M. Mulligan — Rochester

ROCHESTER — A celebration of life Mass for Marie M. Mulligan will be at 2:30 p.m. March 15 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Rochester. There will be a reception afterward. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Queen of the Universe Catholic Church in Levittown, Pa. Burial will be in St. John Neuman Cemetery in Chalfont, Pa.

Mrs. Mulligan, 80, a resident of The Homestead of Rochester Memory Care Unit, died of natural causes Saturday (March 1, 2008) at Saint Marys Hospital.

Marie Mulhern was born Dec. 8, 1927, in Wilkes-Barre, Pa., and was raised by her two aunts, Mary and Catherine Mulhern. She attended grade school and high school in Wilkes-Barre, then met Charles Mulligan. They were married Aug. 24, 1957, and moved to Levittown, where they resided for 49 years. Mrs. Mulligan was a homemaker, and her husband worked for U.S. Steel as a metallurgist. Mr. Mulligan died in 2006, and she moved to Rochester to be closer to her family. She lived for her family.

Survivors include four sons, Patrick J. (Margaret) of Rochester, Shaun P. of Austin, Texas, Michael J. (Kathy) of Sewell, N.J., and Neil F. (Denise) of Jamison, Pa.; and a daughter, Maureen (Jim) McGovern of Warrington, Pa. She also is survived by 12 grandchildren, including Kevin, Brian and Erin, all of Rochester. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a sister and a brother.

The family prefers memorials to the Alzheimer’s Association.
