MINNEAPOLIS — The story about the theft of a special laptop computer from a blind Minneapolis woman touched the heart of former Sen. Mark Dayton, so he did something about it.
Dayton says he called Emily Zitek on Tuesday morning to tell her he bought her a BrailleNote laptop and that the $6,500-machine should arrive next week.
Last week Zitek was riding a Metro Transit bus from her job in St. Paul to Minneapolis when somebody snatched her backpack that contained her laptop.
The computer contained nearly all the information she needs to keep track of the vending machines she fills. She also used it to teach other adults with visual problems to live independently.

Her story was widely reported, and several other people and groups have come forward to help. She says it goes to show that for every bad person, there are 100 good people out there.
