Marlen L. Weeldreyer -- Rochester

ROCHESTER -- The funeral for Marlen L. Weeldreyer will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday (Dec. 24, 2003) at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Rochester, with the Rev. Steven R. Schauder officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood East Cemetery in Rochester.

Mr. Weeldreyer, 72, of Rochester died of lung cancer Sunday (Dec. 21, 2003) at his home.

He was born May 19, 1931, in Monroe, S.D. He grew up and graduated from high school in Parker, S.D., before serving four years in the Navy. On June 7, 1958, he married Yvonne M. Bradwisch in White Lake, S.D. He worked for IBM in Sioux Falls, S.D., and then transferred to plants in Minnesota, Indiana and Michigan before settling in Rochester. He retired in 1981 after 34 years with IBM. He was a member of the IBM Quarter Century Club, Rochester Wood Carvers Club, SEM Sams Camping Club and the ROC 8s Square Dancing Club. He was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church.

He is survived by his wife; two sons, James (Pamela) of Lovelock, Nev., and Jeffrey (Alice) of Rochester; a daughter, Lynn Weeldreyer of Lewisville, Texas; six grandchildren; and a brother, Larry of Brandon, Fla.

Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Homes in Rochester and an hour before the service Wednesday at the church. A prayer service will be at 7:45 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
