CRESCO, Iowa -- The funeral for Mary C. Mohrhauser was today at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Cresco, with the Rev. Henry Charipar officiating. The body was donated to the University of Iowa College of Medicine.
Mrs. Mohrhauser, 91, of Cresco, a retired cook, died of complications of Alzheimer's disease Monday (June 30, 2003) at Patty Elwood Center in Cresco, where she had lived since Dec. 26, 2000.
Mary C. Schleimer was born Jan. 31, 1912, on a farm near Mapleton, Iowa, grew up in the area and attended St. Mary's Catholic School in Mapleton. On Feb. 3, 1932, she married George Mohrhauser. He died in May 1994. Mrs. Mohrhauser cooked at local cafes for 35 years and retired at age 72. She was a member of St. Joseph's Altar Society and enjoyed gardening, flowers and crocheting.
Survivors include three daughters, Darlene Perry and Joan Wernett, both of Cresco, and Beverly (Norbert) Wilson of Atwater, Calif., a son, Wayne (Dawn) of Rochester; 17 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, a grandson and her siblings.
Lindstrom Funeral Home in Cresco was in charge of arrangements.
