Mary C. Olson -- Wabasha

WABASHA -- The funeral for Mary C. Olson will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Abbott Funeral Home in Wabasha, with the Rev. Lyle Krumrie officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Minneiska.

Miss Olson, 62, former owner of M.O.'s Bar, died Friday (Oct. 15, 2004) at her home.

Born Dec. 26, 1941, at the family home in Weaver, she graduated from Braille and Sight Saving School in Fari-bault, attended the University of Minnesota for two years and then Mankato State College for her junior year. In 1964, she graduated from Winona State College with a bachelor of arts degree, majoring in elementary education with a minor in special education. She taught special-needs children in Red Wing for two years and taught at Como School in St. Paul for 13 years. In 1978, she purchased the Red Eye Saloon in Wabasha, renamed it M.O.'s Bar and operated the business until it was sold in 1994. She was a member of the Wabasha American Legion Auxiliary and was an avid sports fan, especially of the Minnesota Vikings and Twins.

Survivors include three sisters, Lois (Nick) Dondlinger of Minneiska, Donna Slater of Wabasha and Shirley Gage of Coon Rapids, Minn. Two brothers preceded her in death.

Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. today and an hour before the service Tuesday at the funeral home.
