Mathilda ‘Tillie’ Gilgenbach — Adams

ADAMS — The funeral for Mathilda "Tillie" Gilgenbach was at 10:30 a.m. today at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Adams; the Rev. James Seitz officiated. Interment was in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery.

Mathilda Gertrude Gilgenbach, 100, died Thursday (Nov. 27, 2008) at Adams Health Care Center. She had been a resident there since April 1, 1995.

She was born April 20, 1908, in Lodi Township, Mower County, attended Lodi country school and the Sacred Heart School in Adams. For 43 years she worked as a waitress at the Kahler Hotel, retiring in 1973. She enjoyed crocheting, playing cards, traveling and fishing.

There are no immediate survivors. She is survived by a sister-in-law, Isabelle Gilgenbach of Adams; a brother-in-law, Richard Badger of Rochester; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Mary (Fasbender) Gilgenbach; three brothers, Edward in infancy, Francis and Alfred; and three sisters, Mildred Koenigs, Agnes Smith and Betty Badger.

Memorials are preferred to the Sacred Heart Catholic Church or School or a charity of the donor’s choice.

Adams Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
