Maxine J. Jacobson -- Austin

AUSTIN -- The funeral for Maxine J. Jacobson will be 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Faith United Methodist Church in Spring Valley, with the Rev. William Rowen officiating. Burial will be in Spring Valley Cemetery.

Mrs. Jacobson, 76, of Austin, formerly of Spring Valley, died Saturday (May 11, 2002) at Comforcare Good Samaritan Center in Austin, where she had lived since 1997.

Maxine Joan Hansen was born Nov. 23, 1925, near Grand Meadow, and grew up in the Stewartville area. In 1942, she graduated from Stewartville High School. In 1947, she married Addison Jacobson at the Stewartville Methodist Church. She began her employment at First National Bank in Spring Valley in 1958 and worked there until her retirement in the early 1980s. He died in 1997. She was a member of Faith United Methodist Church and enjoyed her husband's gardens and rose bushes.

Survivors include a son, Gary of Grand Forks, N.D.; a daughter, Julie (Steve) Knox of Austin; seven grandchildren; and three brothers, Robert (Elaine) Hansen of Arizona, formerly of Austin, Paul (Lou) Hansen of Richfield, Minn., and Richard (Sue) Hansen of Byron. Three brothers preceded her in death.

Friends may call from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Hindt-Hutchins Funeral Home in Spring Valley, and at the church one hour before the service on Wednesday.
