Maxine M. Girard -- Austin

AUSTIN -- The funeral for Maxine M. Girard was Monday at Plombon Funeral Home in Stanley, Wis., with the Rev. Arnold Lein officiating. Burial was in Edson Union Cemetery.

Mrs. Girard, 76, of Stanley, formerly of Austin, died Thursday (Aug. 8, 2002) at Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire, Wis.

Maxine M. Johnson was born May 19, 1926, in Austin and grew up here. On March 29, 1956, she married Marshall Girard in Chicago. They lived in Milwaukee until 1986, when they retired and moved to Wilson, Wis. Mrs. Girard served on the election board in Wilson and was a past grand royal matron of the Order of Amarrath for the state of Wisconsin. She enjoyed knick-knacks, crafts and attending flea markets.

Survivors include her husband; a son, Frederick (Susan) of Leon, Wis.; two granddaughters; three brothers, Gollen (Janet) Johnson, Wayne (Marjorie) Johnson and Paul Johnson, all of Austin; and two sisters, Margaret Larson and Mavis (Duane) Madsen, both of Austin. A brother preceded her in death.
