Rochester Mayo and Rochester Lourdes each easily made it into this morning's semifinal round of their respective Class AA and Class A girls state tennis tournaments.
Mayo, playing Wayzata at the Northwest Athletic Club 98th St., in Bloomington on Wednesday, was a 6-1 winner. Seven-time defending state champion Lourdes blanked Crookston 7-0 at Nicollet Tennis Center in Minneapolis. Lourdes won all of its matches in straight sets.
Mayo (19-3) played Eden Prairie at 8 a.m. today in the semifinals. Eden Prairie dealt the Spartans one of their three losses earlier this season, winning 4-3 in the Edina Invitational. State Class AA finals are at 2 p.m. Third place is at noon.
Lourdes, which moved to 16-0, met West Central Area at 8 a.m. today. Finals are at 2 p.m. Third place is at noon.
