Mayo/Lourdes offense shines

Mayo/Lourdes scored five goals in the second period to win a wide-open girls hockey game 8-5 over Eastview Saturday.

Sara Miller scored two goals and added an assist. Brittany Erickson, Allie Harwood, Katie Psimos and Nicky Anderson each had a goal and two assists. Alyssa Weise had her first varsity goal and an assist, Stevie Fiek a goal, Gretchen Leyendecker two assists and Stephanie Mathowetz one assist.

"The girls played an excellent first and second period, generating excellent scoring chances," M/L coach John Gamble said. "Sara Miller and Brittany Erickson played especially well."

M/L led 1-0 after one period and 6-2 after two.

Goalie Sinead Murphy made 23 saves. The team put 23 shots on goal.


Mayo/Lourdes hosts Mankato West Tuesday and plays JM/Century Thursday at the Rec Center.
