ZUMBROTA — The funeral for Melva C. Hinrichs will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Christ Lutheran Church in Zumbrota, with the Rev. Erich Westphal officiating. Burial will be in Lands Lutheran Church Cemetery.
Mrs. Hinrichs, 80, of Zumbrota, died Saturday (March 29, 2008) at the Zumbrota Care Center.
Melva Charlotte Jacobson was born Oct. 14, 1927, in Roscoe Township, Goodhue County. She grew up on the family farm, attended country school and graduated from Zumbrota High School. On Sept. 24, 1946, she married Herbert L Hinrichs at the Christ Lutheran Church parsonage in Zumbrota. They made their home in Zumbrota. She worked for Klug Pharmacy, was a partner and did bookkeeping for Herb’s Cartage, and was a milk tester for DHIA in Zumbrota for many years. She was a member of Christ Lutheran Church and Stary-Yerka VFW Post No. 5727 Auxiliary. She enjoyed rosemaling, quilting, knitting personalized Christmas stockings, bowling, fishing, spending time at their cabin and playing cards.
Survivors include one sister, Nordis Urness of Zumbrota; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, a foster son, one brother and two sisters.
Visitation will be one hour before the service on Friday at the church.
