AUSTIN — The funeral for Merle L. "Pete" Peterson will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Clasen-Jordan Mortuary in Austin, with the Rev. Kristi Koppel officiating. Interment will be in Grandview Cemetery, Austin.
Mr. Peterson, 78, of Savage, Minn., formerly a longtime Austin resident, died Saturday (April 19, 2008) at The Lodge on Natchez in Elko, Minn.
Merle Lee Peterson was born Dec. 25, 1929, in Austin. He attended Austin public schools, and served in the Army and the Air Force. He was a retired employee of Hormel Foods Corp. Mr. Peterson and his wife, Donna Mae, resided in Austin until September 2007, when they moved to Savage.
Survivors include his wife; four daughters, Pam Peterson of Scottsdale, Ariz., Susan (Steve) Sanderson of Northfield, Minn., Cathy (Arnold) Berg of Savage and Kim (Mike) Bellrichard of Austin; 10 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; four sisters, Dorothy Osmundson of Moscow, Minn., Sharon Hauge of Glenville, Minn., and LaDonna Peterson and Ileen Meier, both of Los Angeles; and a brother, Robert of Davenport, Iowa. He was preceded in death by a son, a stepson, a sister and two brothers.
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until the time of the service Wednesday at Clasen-Jordan Mortuary.
