Merville E. Young -- Rochester

ROCHESTER -- The funeral for Merville E. Young was today at Holcomb-Henry-Boom North Chapel in Shoreview, Minn. Burial was in Fort Snelling National Cemetery.

Mr. Young, 80, of Shoreview, formerly of Rochester, died Sunday (March 17, 2002) following a lengthy illness.

Born Dec. 4, 1921, in Charles City, Iowa, he graduated from McKinley High School there and attended college in Vermont. He was a World War II veteran and served in the Pacific. Mr. Young was employed at Martin Marietta in Orlando, Fla., until his retirement in 1985.

Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Ellie; a daughter, Saundra (Dennis) Hoel of Shoreview; two sons, Thomas (Cindy) and Michael (Kathy), both of Rochester; and eight grandchildren. A brother preceded him in death.
