Michael Joseph McCoy -- Rochester

ROCHESTER --- A funeral Mass for Michael Joseph McCoy will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Rochester, with the Rev. Paul Nelson officiating. Burial will be in the Calvary Cemetery.

Mr. McCoy, 46, of Rochester died Thursday (Sept. 2, 2004) at Saint Marys Hospital in Rochester after a brief illness with cancer.

He was born Dec. 21, 1957, in Rochester, the son of Harold and Janet McCoy of Rochester. He attended St. Pius grade school, Lourdes High School and graduated from John Marshall High School. He married Susan Dennis on Dec. 1, 1979, in Rochester. They later divorced.

Mr. McCoy was an over-the-road truck driver and owned and operated Midwest Specialized Transport for 25 years. He was a member of the One Million Mile Club and was close to achieving two million miles of accident-free truck driving. He was also a racing and sports enthusiast and especially enjoyed the Vikings, the Twins and the Indy 500.

Survivors include his parents; one son, Nicholas Michael of Eden Prairie; a brother, Mark (Julie) of Rochester; and three sisters, Michelle McCoy of Savage, Minn.; Melinda (Robert) Arneson of Rochester; and Mary Jo (Jeff) Wersal of North Mankato, Minn.


Friends may call from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Macken Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service Wednesday at the church.
