Minnesota Cattlemen's Tour is July 9

ROSEAU, Minn. - The Minnesota State Cattlemen's Summer Tour takes place in northwestern Minnesota this year.

ROSEAU, Minn. - The Minnesota State Cattlemen's Summer Tour takes place in northwestern Minnesota this year.

The Roseau County fairgrounds in Roseau will be the headquarters for the July 9 tour, which features stops at five beef operations.

Hosting the event is the Northwestern Stockmen's Association. NSA president Steve Haugen said cattlemen will enjoy seeing the farms and cattle operations.

Haugen's Bear Creek Ranch is one of the tour stops. With his wife, Deon, Haugen has a 400-head cow/calf and backgrounding operation. He raises the cattle in a rotational grazing system and does fall calving.

Other operations featured include Waage Farm.

Chuck and Cathy Carlson's CarlSon Angus is one of the premier Angus seedstock operations in northern Minnesota.

Skime Ranch, owned by Roger and Bernice Skime, is a commercial Angus/Tarentaise fall calving herd.

Isane Farms is a cow/Calf operation.

Also featured will be Burkel Grain Service. This family owned business is a supplier of mineral and feed including Norhtern Feeds brand products.

Berts Livestock Water Systems is operated by Darin Bertilrud. He designs and installs cattle watering systems that accomodate rotationsll grazing systems.

Central Boiler is a well known privately owned corporation that manufactures outdoor furnaces.

NSA member Matt Ulwelling helped plan the event, which starts at 7 a.m.on the fairgrounds.

Pre-tour events are scheduled July 8 and include cattle tours in the Warroad area.

The NSA has 75 members.

Other areas of interest include Polaris in Roseau. The company is known for its snowmobiles and also manufacturers ATVs and motorcycles. Marvin Windows and Doors manufactures made-to-order windows and doors in Warroad.

The Shed is a classic and muscle car collection displayed in a 24,000 square foot building in Warroad.

Cattlemen can enjoy the Lake of the Woods area.
