MASON CITY, Iowa -- A Minnesota man faces attempted murder, robbery and eluding charges in Iowa stemming from a high-speed chase in Cerro Gordo and Worth Counties.
Authorities said Curt Robert Rootkie, 20, carjacked a vehicle on the west side of Mason City on Oct. 13, then led officers on a high speed chase. The crash ended west of Manly when Rootkie's vehicle crashed into an unmanned Worth County Sheriff's patrol car.
Rootkie's second-degree robbery and felony eluding trial is set for Jan. 11 in Mason City. He has not yet been arraigned on attempted murder charges he's facing in Worth County.
