From staff reports
The Department of Natural Resources asks deer hunters who want to hunt in late November to consider applying for a permit to hunt in Great River Bluffs State Park south of Winona.
The park has too many deer, which are threatening the park's natural habitat. The DNR offered 100 permits, but fewer than 20 hunters applied.
To get more hunters, the department has extended the availability to any hunter with a valid license to hunt the 3B season, which is the late firearms season in this region.
Hunters may apply for permits by mail or pick one up at the park. If requesting by mail, hunters need to include their name, address and 3B license number.
