North Dakota man dies in west-central Minnesota jail

The Swift County sheriff announced the death of a jail inmate early Tuesday. The 45-year-old North Dakota man had been arrested Monday for driving while impaired.

BENSON — A man died early Tuesday morning in the Swift County Jail in Benson.

According to a news release from Sheriff John Holtz, the 45-year-old was in custody after being arrested Monday by the Benson Police Department for driving while impaired.

The sheriff did not identify the man but said he was originally from Bismarck, North Dakota.

The state Bureau of Criminal Apprehension is investigating.
