Funeral for Pope County sheriff’s deputy set for Saturday in Glenwood

GLENWOOD, Minn. — Funeral information for Pope County Sheriff’s Deputy Joshua Owen, 44, of Glenwood, has been released. He died Saturday, April 15, as the result of injuries suffered in the line of duty.

Visitation will be held 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, April 21, at the Minnewaska Area High School in Glenwood. Visitation will continue from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the high school, followed by funeral services at 10:30 a.m.

Arrangements are with the Hoplin-Hitchcock Funeral Home of Glenwood.

Gov. Tim Walz has ordered all Minnesota flags to be flown at half-staff at all state buildings in Minnesota immediately until sunset on Saturday, April 22, in honor and remembrance of Owen.

“Deputy Owen was a dedicated law enforcement officer and a veteran of the Minnesota National Guard who was respected by his family, friends, and colleagues,” the proclamation reads. “With its deepest gratitude, the State of Minnesota recognizes Deputy Josh Owen for his dedicated service to, and sacrifice for, his fellow Minnesotans, and our prayers are with his family, friends, and community.”
