Baseball legend Minnie Minoso on Wednesday night became the first player to play professional baseball in seven different decades when he walked in the first inning of the St. Paul Saints' Northern League game with Gary. Minoso, who is 77, led off the bottom of the first inning as the designated hitter in the game. He took three pitches for balls and then a called strike. He fouled the next pitch off before taking a fastball for the walk, the 815th of his career. He played several seasons for the New York Cubans of the Negro Leagues prior to getting into organized ball. He wore the Cubans jersey as part of the Saints' Tribute To The Negro Leagues in the game with the Railcats.
