United Way of Mower County’s second annual Day of Caring will start at 10 a.m. with a breakfast at Austin High School’s cafeteria. After a brief program, volunteers will go to their work sites.
Teams of two to 10 people will help at sites in Austin and elsewhere in Mower County by washing windows, painting, planting gardens, doing yard cleanup and doing other tasks. Most teams will volunteer four hours.
The day is a celebration of community volunteers giving "one day to help one another," a United Way news release stated. Volunteers provide help to individuals or nonprofit agencies that need assistance.
