BRAINERD -- David Morgan, playing out of the Rochester Golf and Country Club, defeated University of Minnesota teammate Ryan Paulson of Minnetonka 6 and 4 Wednesay to win the Minnesota Golf Association Players' Championship at The Legacy in Brainerd.
Morgan, last year's runnerup, won he sixth, eighth and ninth holes en route to firing a 4-under-par 32 on the front nine to go 3 up. After a severe weather delay, Morgan won the 10th and 13th holes with pars and closed out the match with a par at the 14th.
Up next for Morgan is the Minnesota State Open, followeed by the Porter Cup and the Western Amateur later this summer.
