Muriel E. Johnson -- Harmony

HARMONY -- The funeral for Muriel E. Johnson will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Greenfield Lutheran Church in Harmony, with the Rev. James R. Radatz officiating. Burial will be in Greenfield Cemetery.

Mrs. Johnson, 90, of Harmony, a former shoe store owner, died Saturday (June 15, 2002) at Harmony Healthcare Center.

Muriel E. Johnson was born Nov. 21, 1911, in Fillmore County near Harmony and graduated from Harmony High School. On Oct. 8, 1930, she married Willard Johnson. They farmed in the Harmony-Mabel area for many years and in 1953 started Harmony Shoe Store. After her husband's death on Feb. 13, 1956, she continued to operate the business until her retirement in 1976. Mrs. Johnson was involved in civic affairs and was a member of Greenfield Lutheran Church, where she sang in the choir, served as Sunday school teacher and superintendent, and was active in ladies aid and Esther Circle. Her hobbies included knitting, crocheting, sewing, cooking and playing cards.

Survivors include a daughter, Nacia (Gordon) Johannsen of Harmony; two sons, Richard (Barbara) and Roger (Marsha), both of Harmony; nine grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two grandsons and two brothers.

Friends may call from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. today at Lindstrom Funeral Home in Harmony.
