Jane Belau, the poet laureate for the Soldiers Field Memorial and a pianist, brought together several local musicians to create a music CD in honor of Veterans Day.

"A Tribute To Our Veterans" includes songs from Soldiers Field Veterans Memorial events, service songs, popular songs from the war years and some new songs. It will be released Tuesday.

The CD will be given free to veterans attending the Veterans Day program at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at New Life Worship Center in Rochester, 6301 34th Ave. N.W. A free breakfast will be provided by Canadian Honker starting at 8:30 a.m.

Following Veterans Day, the CD will be available at stores and gift shops in the area. Profits go to the Soldiers Field Memorial committee for veterans charities.

Heard on the CD are duets "The Gold Star Widow" and "The Names on the Wall" by Tom Overlie and Cynthia Good, as well as "The Prayer" with Raul Jalmasco and Carla Thelen Hanson.

Violinist Erik Rohde joins Belau on piano in "America," "Stardust" and "God Bless America."

The Hosanna Quartet, which is Randy Demmer, Kathy Demmer, Deb Oelkers and Harry Follmuth of Hayfield, plays "Welcome Home to Our Troops" with Belau.

There are also duo piano songs with Bruce Rohde and Belau and solos including "I’ll be Seeing You," "Coming in on a Wing and a Prayer," "White Cliffs of Dover" and "Every Time We Say Goodbye."
