Myron Edward 'Mike' Lips -- Zumbrota

ZUMBROTA -- The funeral for Myron Edward "Mike" Lips will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at United Redeemer Lutheran Church in Zumbrota with the Revs. Wayne Radke and Darin Easler officiating. Burial will be in Zumbrota Cemetery.

Mr. Lips, 82, of Zumbrota, died Thursday (June 20, 2002) in Zumbrota.

He was born April 20, 1920, in Faribault, grew up on the family farm near Nerstrand and attended country school. At the age of seventeen he began running the family farm after his father died. On June 5, 1954, he married Elaine T. Anderson in Zumbrota. In 1959 they started farming in rural Zumbrota. Mr. Lips was the caretaker and gravedigger for Zumbrota Cemetery for many years, and retired in 1988. Mrs. Lips died Dec. 20, 1990. He was a member of United Redeemer Lutheran Church and the Zumbro Valley Rifle Club. He enjoyed bowling and gardening.

Survivors include two brothers, Kenneth of Nerstrand and Dean (Karen) of Andover, Minn.; and one sister, Algene (Don) Larson of Red Wing.

Friends may call from 4:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Sunday at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Larson Chapel, and at the church one hour prior to the service on Monday.


The family suggests memorials to Nerstrand Methodist Cemetery or Zumbrota Library.
