MANTORVILLE — There’s another new face on the City Council.
On Monday, the City Council appointed Luke Nash to fill the council seat vacated by Sarah Leitzen. Nash is a former council member who ran in 2006 for mayor, losing to current Mayor Tom Gall. His appointment was approved unanimously.
Initially, two candidate filed for the vacant seat — Nash and Jim Maxson last month. But the day after the deadline, Andrew Galbus submitted his application. The council had opted to delay appointing a member and extended the application deadline until March 7. Only Nash and Maxson showed up on Monday night to be interviewed by the council.
This new appointment comes shortly after the council appointed Jamie Jencks to fill the seat vacated by council member Nancy Bauman.
