MINNEAPOLIS -- Osmo Vänskä; makes his debut as conductor of the Minnesota Orchestra with concerts Sept. 11-13, capped by a free outdoor concert Sept. 14.
The program for the opening concerts features Beethoven's Symphony No. 5. Concerts are at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 11 and 8 p.m. Sept. 12 at Orchestra Hall, and at 8 p.m. Sept. 13 at Ordway Center in St. Paul. Tickets range from $22 to $78; (612) 371-5656.
The free outdoor concert is at 4 p.m. Sept. 14 at the Lake Harriet bandshell in Minneapolis. The program includes works by Beethoven, Mendelssohn, Grieg and Dvorak.
