Seven people, all students at Century High School, were injured in a two-car crash on 37th Street Northeast at East River Road on Wednesday night.

Six teenagers — four boys and two girls — were in a vehicle that collided in the intersection with a car occupied by two teenagers. The accident occurred about 8:50 p.m.

According to Rochester Police Lt. Dan Muyres, the driver of the first vehicle, 17-year-old Mitchell James Cada, was seriously injured and had to be extricated from the car. He was taken to Saint Marys Hospital; his condition was not available this morning. Four passengers, Alyssa Joy Fetterly, 18, William Isaac Shillingford, 18, Bricelyn Susanna Sigrist, 17, and Justin Wade Threat, 18, were all taken by ambulance to Saint Marys Hospital for minor injuries. One passenger was not injured.

Injuries to the occupants of the other vehicle appeared to be minor, Muyres said.

Muyres said Cada was northbound on East River Road when he went through a red light at 37th Street.

The other vehicle was in the left-hand eastbound lane and hit the back end of Cada’s car. Cada’s car spun across all lanes into a utility pole.

Police temporarily shut down the westbound lanes of 37th Street while responding to the accident. Muyres said no citations or charges have been filed.
