Nira E. Bramble — Stewartville

STEWARTVILLE — The funeral for Nira E. Bramble, 91, will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Griffin-Gray Funeral Home in Stewartville, with the Rev. John Heille officiating. Burial will be in Grandview Memorial Gardens in Rochester.

Mrs. Bramble died of natural causes Thursday (Nov. 6, 2008) at Olmsted Medical Center Hospital in Rochester, where she had been a patient for one day.

Nira Ellen Wallace was born Aug. 12, 1917, in Potsdam, grew up on the family farm and attended rural schools. She married William Bramble on Sept. 10, 1935, in Rochester. The couple lived in Rochester for a number of years before moving to Pleasant Grove Township, rural Stewartville. Mrs. Bramble was employed as a waitress by Flame Restaurant and Fish House Restaurant, both in Stewartville. She then worked as a housekeeper for several Rochester families until her retirement in 1962. She lived in Rochester and Pine Island before moving to Stewartville in 2005 to live with family. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, word puzzles, bird watching and spending time with all her grandchildren.

Survivors include a daughter, Della Gruhlke of Stewartville; a son, Thomas (Mary Lou) of Douglas; 19 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and 36 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband on Jan. 10, 1980; a daughter, Velma Rucker; her parents, James and Anna (Dahlman) Wallace; two sisters, Alta and Mildred; and a brother, Ralph.

Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday at Griffin-Gray Funeral Home, and an hour before the service Tuesday at the funeral home.
