Norma C. Heitman -- Zumbro Falls

ZUMBRO FALLS -- The funeral for Norma C. Heitman will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at St. John's Lutheran Church in Mazeppa, with the Rev. Alan Horn officiating. Burial will be in Mazeppa Cemetery.

Mrs. Heitman, 91, of Zumbrota, died Wednesday (Aug. 11, 2004) at Zumbrota Nursing Home.

Norma Carolyn Atkinson was born Nov. 15, 1912, in Zumbro Township, Wabasha County. She attended school in Zumbro Falls and married Alfred John Heitman on Sept. 24, 1932, in Zumbro Falls. The couple farmed in the Zumbro Falls/Mazeppa areas. They retired in 1975 and moved to Mazeppa in 1980. Her husband died Jan. 1, 1989. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church and the Mazeppa Senior Citizens. She was a past member of the ladies aid in Bear Valley. She enjoyed cooking, sewing and gardening.

Survivors include two sons, Leo (Vicky) of Loveland, Colo., and Larry (Roberta) of Rochester; a daughter, LaVon (Michael) Hammes of Mazeppa; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a sister, Doris Schafer of Mazeppa; and a brother, Kenneth (Kathrine) Atkinson of Red Wing. She was preceded in death by a daughter, a sister and three brothers.

Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Mahn Family Funeral Home-Larson Chapel in Zumbrota and one hour before the service Saturday at the church.
