Maurine Baldner — St. Ansgar, Iowa
ST. ANSGAR, Iowa — The funeral for Maurine Baldner, 94, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Toeterville, Iowa, with the Rev. Lance Kittelson officiating. Burial will be in St. Peter Cemetery, Toeterville.
Mrs. Baldner, formerly of St. Ansgar, Iowa, died Thursday (March 6, 2008) at Hillview Nursing Home in La Crosse, Wis.
Nelsine Maurine Nelson was born July 31, 1913, in Mitchell County, Iowa. She graduated from Osage (Iowa) High School in 1932 and received Normal School training for two years. She married Arthur L. Baldner on May 1, 1938, in Osage. In 1941, they bought their farm northeast of Toeterville. They resided on the farm until retiring to St. Ansgar in 1973. Mrs. Baldner was a 4-H leader for several years, served on Mitchell County Extension, and was involved in the Mitchell County Cancer Society. She and her husband moved to La Crosse in 2000.
Survivors include two daughters, Audrey (Ron) Clausen of Rochester and Carol (Jack) Jones of Gilbert, Ariz.; a son, Gerald (Betty) of La Crescent; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandson. She was preceded in death by her husband and a brother.
