GRAND MEADOW — The funeral Mass for Marcella Spellman was at 10:30 a.m. today at St. Finbarr Catholic Church in Grand Meadow; the Rev. Steve Peterson officiated. Burial was in St. Patrick’s Cemetery in LeRoy.
Mrs. Spellman, 87, of Grand Meadow, formerly of LeRoy, died Tuesday (April 15, 2008) at the Grand Meadow Healthcare Center.
Marcella Davis was born April 19, 1920, in Grand Meadow, and was a graduate of Grand Meadow High School. On May 3, 1956, she married Frank Spellman at St. Finbarr Catholic Church. She was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in LeRoy and a past president of the Rosary Society. She helped her husband at the school for many years.

Following Mr. Spellman’s death, she lived in Grand Meadow and was a member of St. Finbarr Catholic Church. She lived in Grandview Apartments for three years before moving to the care center. Mrs. Spellman loved cooking and gardening, as well as her dog, Brownie. She also did a lot of babysitting of her nieces and nephews.
Survivors include two brothers, Raymond (Linda) Davis and Glen (Mary Ann) Davis, both of Grand Meadow; and a sister, Teresa (Truman) Nelson of Grand Meadow. She was preceded in death by her husband in January 2005, two sisters and three brothers.
Hindt Funeral Home of Grand Meadow was in charge of arrangements.
