Marilyn Starman – Austin


AUSTIN — The funeral for Marilyn Starman will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Austin, with the Rev. Ron Barnett officiating. Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Austin.

Mrs. Starman, 81, of Austin, died Friday (Oct. 19, 2007) at Sacred Heart Care Center in Austin.

Marilyn Wangsness was born April 1, 1926, in Goodhue County. On June 10, 1951, she married Dale William Starman at First Lutheran Church in Kenyon. The couple moved to Austin in 1959, where she worked for the First National Bank as head teller and loan officer. At St. Olaf Lutheran Church, she was a member of WELCA and served as a greeter. She also volunteered for Meals on Wheels, enjoyed trips to Treasure Island Casino, and loved caring for her granddaughter, Kelsey.


Survivors include a son, Bill (Sharman) of Austin; five grandchildren; and two sisters, Elaine Wangsness and Alpha Sathrum, both of Kenyon. She was preceded in death by her husband on June 7, 1996, and a sister.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. today at Worlein Funeral Home in Austin, and an hour before the service Wednesday at the church.
