PLAINVIEW — The funeral for Marvin K. Becker was at 11 a.m. today at Peace United Methodist Church of Plainview/Elgin; the Rev. Deanna Woodward officiated. Interment was in Greenwood Cemetery, Plainview.
Mr. Becker, 85, of Plainview, died of natural causes Wednesday (Sept. 24, 2008) at St. Isidore Health Care Center.
Marvin Kenneth Becker was born Aug. 3, 1923, in the Whitewater Valley of Winona County. Throughout the 1950s, he farmed with his grandfather south of Plainview. He later had a farm north of Plainview, which he worked until his retirement.

On Oct. 16, 1946, he married Irene Harcey at her parents’ home in Winona County. She preceded him in death in 1997.
Mr. Becker was an avid outdoorsman and maintained a lifelong interest in the history and preservation of the Whitewater Valley.
He is survived by a daughter, Kathleen (Donald) Lammers of Elgin; a son, Graylen of Rochester; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two brothers, Malcolm (Patricia) of Bloomington, Minn., and Charles (Marion) of Plainview; and a sister, Elaine Holst of Plainview. Other survivors include special friend, Selma Turner of Chatfield; and a daughter-in-law, Theresa (Dale) Becker-Ersland of Austin. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by a son and a brother.
