Lucille Mary Baudler — Austin
AUSTIN — The funeral for Lucille Mary Baudler will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Olaf Lutheran Church.
Lucille Mary Baudler, 85, of Austin, died Friday (April 24, 2009).
Lucille was born Nov. 14, 1923, to beloved parents Carl and Julia Baudler, in Austin, where she spent 85 years as a resident. She was proud to call Austin her home. She received both a bachelor’s and a master’s degree in psychology from the University of Minnesota. She was active in Democratic politics and was a true liberal long before the term was coined. She was an ardent opponent of United States involvement in the Vietnam War and was a passionate supporter of the Civil Rights Movement and equal rights for women. She loved classical music and her trips to see the Minnesota Orchestra with her dear friend Janet Dickson were some of her favorite memories. She cherished being part of the Baudler family and was proud of her family’s heritage and deep roots in Austin. She was an integral part of life for her niece and nephew Ellen and Tom Baudler and their families. A day at Aunt Lucille’s provided unconditional love, attention and appreciation for the bounty provided by a simple existence. She will be greatly missed.
Survivors include her niece, Ellen (Jack Cann) Baudler of St. Paul; and nephew, Tom (Lisa) Baudler of Austin; her grand nieces and nephews, Michael, Kathleen, and Mary Cann, and Natalie, Ingrid, and Tony Baudler. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Bernice Baudler.
