PINE ISLAND -- A graveside service for Obert Peter Swee will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis, at Assembly Area No. 4.
Mr. Swee, 93, of Sandstone, Minn., formerly of Pine Island, died at the Pine Medical Center in Sandstone on Wednesday (Aug. 14, 2002).
He was born May 4, 1909, in Goodhue County, where he grew up and attended school. He lived in Goodhue County until 1941, when he entered the U.S. Army. He served in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater during World War II. After his discharge in 1945, he lived in Michigan for a short time. He then moved to Pine Island. In October of 1957, he married Lillian Moe in Iowa. They made their home in Pine Island until 1964, when they moved to Brook Park, Minn. where they operated "Swee's Service." They moved to Hinckley, Minn., in 1994 and then to the Pine Health Care Center in Sandstone in 1998 where they had lived since. Mr. Swee enjoyed bowling and was an avid hunter.
Survivors include his wife; and one sister, Gladys Kundert of Pine Island.
Methven Funeral Home in Sandstone is in charge of arrangements.
