Offender faces charges for not registering

There will be an omnibus hearing next month for a convicted sex offender now facing charges for allegedly failing to register as a predatory offender.

Steven Hendricks Blondheim, 55, no permanent address, made a brief appearance in Olmsted District Court on Feb. 10. His attorney, Candace Rasmussen, requested an evidentiary hearing, and it has been set for March 8.

Blondheim was convicted of first-degree criminal sexual conduct in 1996 and sentenced in Olmsted County. As a convicted offender, he is required by state law to keep authorities informed as to his address, as well as of any change in employment and vehicle.

A warrant for his arrest was issued by the state Corrections Department on Nov. 30. On Dec. 28, a warrant was issued by Olmsted County authorities after police could not locate Blondheim at the address he had given authorities and, when reached by telephone, refused to give his address, according to the criminal complaint.
