Glynn said he expects the second Leo's to occupy around 6,000 square feet in a new strip mall located near Century High School. He added that the second location will have "pretty much the exact same set-up" as the first Leo's, which opened in a free-standing building in December at 2280 Superior Dr., behind Cinemagic Theaters. The first Leo's features video games, a play area for small children, TVs that play cartoons and other kids' programming, and a lion mascot who emerges from time to time to dance and mug for photos with kids.
Glynn said he hopes to start offering a lunch buffet at the first Leo's by the end of the month and that he also plans to offer a lunch buffet at the new location as well.
GRANITE CITY POSSIBLE FOR ROCHESTER, BUT NOT SOON: There's good news and bad news for Rochesterites hoping Granite City Food &; Brewery will bring one of its extensive-menu and handcrafted-beer eateries here: It sounds like the chain is interested in possibly coming to Rochester, but just not anytime real soon.
"It's definitely been considered and it probably will continue to be considered," interim chief financial officer Monica Underwood said last week, "but it probably won't open in the next couple of years."
St. Cloud-based Granite City reported strong earnings for last year and chief executive officer Steve Wagenheim was quoted recently as saying the chain plans to add 18 new locations over the next three years. The first Granite City opened in St. Cloud in 1999. The budding chain has since opened other locations in Minnesota, Iowa, the Dakotas and Nebraska.
