ROCHESTER -- The funeral for Opal H. Newell will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Macken Funeral Home in Rochester, with the Rev. Bruce Buller officiating. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery in St. Charles.
Mrs. Newell, 86, of Stillwater, Minn., formerly of Rochester, died Wednesday (Oct. 6, 2004) at Greeley Healthcare Center in Stillwater, where she had lived a short time.
Opal Holm was born Feb. 24, 1918, in Saratoga. A beautician, she operated the beauty salon at Saint Marys Hospital for years. She lived in Boca Raton and West Palm Beach, Fla., before returning to Rochester, and she lived in Rochester for 20 years before moving to Stillwater three years ago. She was a member and past president of BPO Does Drove 19.
Survivors include a daughter, Kay Ronning of Rochester; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a brother, Kenneth Holm of Utica. She was preceded in death by three husbands, including Archie Newell; a sister; and a brother.
Friends may call from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday and an hour before the service Monday at the funeral home, where a Does service will be at 7 p.m. Sunday.
