Organic Advisory Task Force seeks volunteers

From staff reports

Organic food enthusiasts of Minnesota, make your voice heard.

The Organic Advisory Task Force -- which provides recommendations to the Minnesota Agriculture Commissioner -- is looking for 14 volunteers to serve on the task force. Applications are being accepted from a wide variety of organic food-related fields, including consumers, farmers, retailers and educators in the organic sector.

Duties include reporting to the commissioner on organic sector opportunities and barriers, advising the MDA on organic program design and implementation, and members also assist with the biennial survey of organic sector agriculture in Minnesota. The Task Force meets four times a year throughout the state, and members are reimbursed for travel expenses.

The Secretary of State's office will accept applications through August 22. Applicants must complete an open appointment application form, available on the Secretary of State's Web site, or through that office. All applicants must be Minnesota residents and are encouraged to submit a cover letter and resume with applications.
