Orville T. Thompson -- Austin

AUSTIN -- Funeral services for Orville T. Thompson, 88, of rural Austin, will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Red Oak Grove Lutheran Church, rural Austin, with the Rev. Bruce Falksen officiating. Interment is at Red Oak Grove Cemetery, rural Austin.

Mr. Thompson died Saturday (July 8, 2006) following a one-week illness and one day at Comforcare Good Samaritan Center in Austin. He was born March 27, 1918, in Columbia County, Wis. The family lived there until Orville was 13, when they moved to a farm in Udolpho Township, Mower County. He was a member of the Red Oak Grove Lutheran Church; he enjoyed his farm life, mowing the yard, dining out, and visiting friends.

There are no immediate survivors. He was preceded in death by a sister.

Visitation is an hour before the service Wednesday at the church. Worlein Funeral Home in Austin is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials are preferred to Red Oak Grove Lutheran Church.
