P-B Athlete of the Week; Honkers' Rance Roundy

  • Hit for the cycle Saturday in the Rochester Honkers’ 9-2 win over the Thunder Bay Border Cats in Northwoods League college baseball. He singled in the first inning, doubled in the third, homered in the fifth, and tripled in the seventh. He finished 4-for-5 with two runs and four RBIs.
  • Also went 2-for-4 Sunday at Thunder Bay and raised his league-leading batting average to .405; has 45 hits in 111 at-bats, and has appeared in 26 of 28 games so far.
  • Also ranks at or near the top of the 14-team league in hits (first with 45), doubles (first with 14), extra-base hits (first with 19), slugging percentage (first with .658), on-base percentage (second with .463), runs (second with 23), and RBIs (fourth with 20).
  • With more than half the season remaining, is on pace to shatter a number of team batting records, including total hits (88), doubles (20) and season batting average (.377).
  • An infielder-turned-outfield in the last two years, had a solid junior season at UNLV where he hit .364 with 17 extra-base hits with 40 runs and 32 RBIs.
  • The 6-foot-2 and 195-pound right-handed fielder and batter is a native of Henderson, Nev., and was the Gatorade High School Player of the Year for the state of Nevada in 2006.
